Welcome to the Music and Sound forum on GD.net. Pull up a chair, listen to some tracks by your peers and discuss all things music and sound. We're happy to have you. Please check out the FAQ link for some basic (and mostly common sense) approaches used in this forum. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Well, first let me give a brief history of my music experiences. I started off in Modedit, then went to Scream Tracker, and finally Impulse Tracker. I have also composed in Midi.
I was basically wondering what program would be best to compose music in now. Impulse Tracker seems a bit noisy and out-dated (?), and I''ve seen a lot of complaints about the midi/soundfont approach. Basically I just want to know what I should use (program/format) to compete in today''s market.
MODs are in no way out of day, and won''t be dying anytime soon. Unreal, Unreal Tourny and Deus Ex all use the MOD format.
Anyway, in my opinion the best sequencer is by far and away Emagic''s Logic Audio. The interface may take a bit of getting used to, but after a while you''ll wonder how you did without it. Have a look at www.emagic.de and download a demo.
