Why am I always told to learn C/C++ to design games? How does C/C++ help in designing games? And Why is it so hard to learn? I''m (trying to)learning this C language so that I can design games but I can''t for the life of me figure out what all this crap is used to do in games. And another thing, What is a good(cheap) software program for designing art in games? Send any info to: mskb12@juno.com

C/C++ is used to create games, not design them. Pencil and paper works fine for design. Perhaps that person was reccomending that you make the games yourself .

Paint shop pro is good for creating game art. You can download it at http://www.jasc.com .

Who is this General Failure and why is he trying to read my hard disk?
Learning how to program will give you a better understanding on how computers work, but you don''t need to know to program to design games.
I'm reminded of the day my daughter came in, looked over my shoulder at some Perl 4 code, and said, "What is that, swearing?" - Larry Wall

Don''t *EVER* post threads with subjects like ''HELP'' - make it a bit more accurate.

Game design is just the process of deciding the flow of events and features in your game.

Writing the game is where C/C++ comes in.

C++ is definitely the best language for professional games, but it''s not very good for beginners. Try learning BASIC (which is simple) and when you have a good knowledge of it move on to C++. You''ll appreciate the BASIC knowledge.
