Let''s say I have a sphere. And this sphere need to look metallic. I''ve already spheremapped a nice spheremap to it, but I can''t figure out how to get the lighting to make a nice specular "spot"...I''ve turned on specular lighting and all, and I''ve played with the specular parameters on the material and the light source...turn the material''s power up too high, and you can''t see the specular light at all, too low and it covers the whole thing with white. And I don''t want to add the spot to the spheremap since the light source can move around... Any suggestions?

The only solution is to use more polygons for the sphere and fiddle with the settings.
