Ok, I managed to add another 3 or 4 libraries and amend a link or two.

But I really want to refactor the page entirely. As I see it, there are a few issues:

- It's hard to know the useful from the useless, but I don't want votes as that tends to favour the most well-known libraries.
- the amount of information on each library is not much, but on the other hand it needs to stay simple to be easy to maintain
- layout is a bit cluttered
- it's hard to see any updates; I intend fixing this by adding an RSS feed.
- taxonomy is imperfect - it's hard to judge what is a graphics library with some extras and what is a complete engine. Perhaps tags (as used in blogs, or Last.fm, for example ) are a solution here?

Any feature suggestions, or ideas on how I should implement this? I hope to keep this resource useful for the forseeable future.

You listed YAKE under graphics, but thats not true.

YAKE makes use of OGRE and is more of a game engine that acts as a middleware to other engines like OGRE, ODE, enet, lua ....

No problem. I just cleaned up the page a bit and made it less blue. I hope to go through the 3D libraries in the near future and sub-categorise them a bit. Any suggestions, amendments, or comments welcomed, as always.

Great list!

I'd like to nominate MicroPather at http://www.grinninglizard.com/MicroPather/ for addition to your list of free AI plugins.

Cheers,
Tim

Nominate jpegxx under "Image and Font Handling". Shameless plug, but it's free to use in free and commercial software.

For SDL programmers there's a GUI library written in C called AGAR under the BSD License. It works in OpenGL mode as well!

Link here.

Simple OpenGL Image Library, a tiny public domain library using Sean Barrett's awesome image loading code, with a few enhancements. C/C++, no external dependencies. This would be a shameless plug, however Sean's code does all the heavy lifting. [8^)

I have a new website located at www.trenki.net with some useful libraries:

  • vector_math (formerly math3d++)
  • a software renderer/rasterizer
  • BMF_Font bitmap font library
  • fixed point math library
  • raytracer.

Add OpenTK? It's a cross-platform game-dev library for .Net/Mono, in the spirit of GLFW or SDL. It provides a nice, clean interface to OpenGL, can setup a render window (standalone through system calls, integrated in a System.Windows.Forms Control, and soon as a GTK# Widget), can do fonts and has a math toolkit. Still alpha, but gaining momentum.
