Anybody that has any ideas, links, tutorials, etc. on how to load in a 3DS file would be much thanked. I have searched and searched and I still cannot seem to find any help with this problem. If anyone could help at all it would be much appreciated. Thank you all in advance. -MSkinn99 What''s done is done (Until you hit Undo)

I had 3dstudio write out to an ase file that I then parsed and exported to my own format. That''s how I do it. Anyone else?

There are 2 or 3 documents about the .3DS file format at Wotsit''s Format. There is source code for loading a file in one of them.

Ut, where can i find information about the .ase format?
Just export whatever file you have to an ascii file ( asc or ase I can''t remember )

When it exports, it will be text readable. From there, open it like you would any other text document and start parsing out what you want. I''m just parsing out vertex and face information with corresponding texture data right now. I haven''t tried to parse out the animations yet.

.asc is 3Dstudio ''s ascii file format
and .ase is from 3DS Max
guess it''s not really important since it readable with notepad
