Tintin was awesome. When I was a kid, the library up the road from me used to get new ones in every month or so because the whole school was obsessed with them. Did you ever see the cartoon? It was surprisingly good.
The final calvin and hobbes strip from the final book had them walking off through a snowy wonderland talking about life, if I remember correctly. Despite Wattersons occasional foray into the nearly-political sometimes, at heart it was just about true life observation.
