lo Real-time Optimally Adapting Meshes (ROAM).....has anyone used it, or knows much about it. I found out tonight that Halo uses ROAM for the landscape, so it must be quite good? Lloyd

ROAM is a really nice algorithm. Basically you feed it with a height map covering a huge chunk of world, tell it where the player is, and how many triangles to use, and it makes a mesh based on all those things. Its fast enough to run in realtime (as halo does). There is a article on gamasutra that covers it here: article.
