Hey guys, I'm just curious if anyone has ever heard of this engine. Here is an announcement on Gamastura. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20433 Here is a link to their website. http://www.abyssalengine.com/ It appears the company which is distributing this engine is Solstar Games. When I sent emails to Abyssal to inquire, the email address was @solstargames.com http://www.solstargames.net/ If anyone has any information on this it would be greatly appreciated. I have read a post on this forum that said Abyssal Engine was another name for Chaos Engine which was a scam. Is this the same engine?? Is it legit?? Thanks in advance for your help!

Um...what's that supposed to mean? I'm asking a question.

I don't know who you are, nor what are your intentions. But he meant that it looks like an advertisment (which it does indeed look like that) and that you're pretending to be a noob to, actually, publish the engine for free in a site which is visited by a lot of proffesional game developers.

Besides:
1) If it's in Gamasutra, then there's a high chance that it isn't a fraud. Because they're serious before publishing a new.
2) If you need to gather information about them, google "WHO IS www.mysite.com" (without the quotation) and you'll find proven information from the responsable of that site.

For example, here is the Who is from that site: http://www.who.is/whois-com/ip-address/abyssalengine.com/
You even have a legal address there.

3) You don't need to use the "WHO IS" keyword to get results. If you get a bunch of them saying "it's a fraud" in forums, then it's a fraud. If they instead speak of their high quality, then it's good.

See? 3 good reasons on why they taaged your post as spam.

Hope my explanation helps you

Ok, I see what you're saying but I don't know what to tell you, this is not my intention at all. I just want to make sure this isn't a scam. My question originated from a post on this forum:

http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=413955&whichpage=1?

In this post it mentions that the Abyssal Engine name was used in a scam. So it only makes sense that I would ask on this forum if the engine above is the one they were talking about in the forum post. All I was trying to do is include enouph information about the research I had done so that people could tell if the engine above is the same one in the post. I'm really just looking for an answer if someone knows...otherwise I'll just go with Torque or Leadwerks 2.0.

Above you mentioned forums...however the Abyssal Engine site has no forums. There is a button on the site for "Community" but it doesn't go anywhere. They are, however, responsive to email. Again, really just looking for advice.

Well it's unfortunate that some people are so cynical that a new person can't be given the benefit of the doubt. I find it rediculous that simply formatting a post a certain way automatically labels them a spammer. The information, in my original post, is required to provide context for my question. Additionally it's obvious I'm asking for some clarification regarding a post made on this forum.

Thank you matias for at least trying to point me in the right direction.
