Just a bit frustrating

I am not sure if I am the only person that is bothered by this but there may be others out there. We answer a question and they never get back and tell us if it worked on not. I don't want to be patted on the back, I just want to know if they idea worked or not. The only way for us to learn is to know if the ideas worked or not. But it seems like most of the time we never get a response back and so I wonder for weeks if it was a good idea or not. theTroll

Do you mean, when you answer questions on help threads, they don't answer you back? Most likely they're like "How do I..." then you show them, then they get it to work and forget about the thread. Sometimes they just give up on the problem and focus on another. Some do answer.

If they don't respond, I just assume that my or someone else's answer worked for that person.
I don't call it frustrating, but I'll wait with much anxiety to hear if it worked or not. Most of the time I'll just forget after a day or two and check back later to see if any replies are made.

Even if there are no replies for updates, that is not to say those posts are not the least bit useless; many times I've came across threads of someone who had a question and someone replied with a bit of code that was great, even though no one had replied anything after it.

The only thing I really find frustrating nowadays is a large portion of the threads I started years ago [headshake] Jeeze, it really makes me embarrassed now.

That prompted me to look at your thread history. My favorite was this.

We all make similar threads. Mine's even worse. So yeah, even the pros todays were newbies yesterday.

It scares me to see there weren't any C++ bashing...I miss those days :(

Everyone should be thanking you for your help! I think its pretty rude not to say thanks..

Its like walking up to someones desk at work asking them a question and then as they answer the question.. you walk away.

No, its not.

In my cases, its more like, making a note and putting it on your coworkers desk seeking help. They respond with a suggestion, but this time, they called and left a message. Anywho, that was on Friday and I won't get back to work till Monday so I will try it then. I spend all of Monday trying, and finally get to it to work at 4:30 PM. I go over to thank them and I see they are crowded with people and so I decide to walk away.

My analogy is not perfect, but sometimes I don't bump the thread so I dont clutter. I could PM them and sometimes I do, but meh. I write down the names of those who help me and make sure I keep the list to thank them when I cure cancer.
