I want to make it so mulitiple people can be playing at once anyone have any good sites or something I could go to to learn about this. Also another question i been pondering is are you allowed to use any socket''s for your game or are some reserved?

Yes some sockets are reserved.

I think it was something like all under 1024 or something like that. Use high number ports.

I must say that I am a bit biased, but I recommed you buy my book.

It is all about multiplayer game development and teaches you how to utilize communication for your games.

Visit my web-site (www.lostlogic.com) for more information.

As for sockets, I usually start at around 5000. You can start well below this, but it ensures you wont trample reserved ports (such as ports 40, 80, etc.)

I wrote CNetwork class for my game engine. It uses directPlay8 peer/peer. There''s no need to know anything about DP8 to use it.
I''ll also purchase a demo in very near future!

Feel free to download and try it!
