Hi. I'm working on a 2D action puzzle and I chose OGL as a rendering API. I am using 3D effects in the game, but the game itself is 2D.
Recently I started working on explosions. I could prerender them, but I am looking for a more "3D" approach on implementing them. Can anyone point me to resources on that?

Look into implementing a particle system you can easily to explosions as well as other effects like water, or fire with them.
