What is Mesa???

If I understood right it looks like OpenGL, but it is not OpenGL. It supports OpenGL, Direct3D and Glide for 3D rendering and is multiplatform?
I downloaded it, but it is really messy. How can I install it to use in my MSVC++6?
If it is what I think it is, it is very very good.

Mesa is a workaround for openGL.
Look into the readme. Mesa readme is very informative.
