A nice and complete set of graphics for low-resolution games. It was originally designed for RPG Maker 2000, but the license does not restrict its use to that software. The site is mostly in Japanese, but all important stuff (the graphic descriptions, the license, etc.) are available in English.

Be careful if you decide to use Spritelib GPL, I was reading the fine print and the licensing is very confusing. The title says GPL, then the description says it's CPL, but then it says that you can't sell it (which goes against the GPL and CPL), and it also says that you can't distribute it in a game dev tool without written permission (also going against the GPL and CPL). Very odd.

http://www.lovetextures.com - textures, Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 (although see below)
http://free3dstextures.com - textures, Creative Commons
http://www.openfootage.net - textures, Creative Commons
http://zooboingreview.blogspot.com/ - seamless textures, Creative Commons Attribution 3.0
http://commons.wikimedia.org/ can be a useful source too - obviously less suited for games, but you can be guaranteed it's all under free licences.
http://www.jamendo.com/ - plenty of music under Creative Commons
http://www.freesound.org/ - sounds, Creative Commons
http://free-loops.com - includes many sounds under Creative Commons
Quote:Yeah, I've come across some like this, where they say it's under a free licence, but then elsewhere say something that contradicts the licence. It's very annoying when people do this :( http://www.lovetextures.com which I list above is even worse, it says it's under Creative Commons, but then says "The only exception is that you do not redistribute, sell or host any of the photography" which suggests no distribution is allowed whatsoever (possibly they just mean that they don't want people distributing them as "stock" images, but it's unclear).

I`m the admin of Reiner`s Tilesets. My webspace has changed. And with that the URL.The link above leads to the subdomain of my ex hoster. And so it becomes invalid in the next days. My new URL is http://www.reinerstilesets.de/
Maybe somebody of the admins can fix the link in the first post so that there is no dead link in the list

One website that I find to be really useful for 3d animation as well as 3d characters is mixamo.com. They not only have a huge collection of customizable 3D animations but they provide really great resources for game developers and animators. They have a youtube channel with lots of reference animations as well as informational articles on the Evolution of Game Animation and how to add props to your scene using maya. Their animations are really great for indie game developers, their price point is very cheap and their integration into game engines like Unity is seamless. There are quite a few free motions, and their 3D character creator is
completely
free at the moment. You can use these characters in your projects freely. If you know how to use muddbox and can model pretty well they also have an autorigger, that automatically rigs your characters online. I havent tried it yet but from the videos it looks pretty awesome. Ive really saved a ton of time on animations for my next iphone game.#14 Members - Reputation: 116

This topic is actually useful so just thought I'd mention my site also if it's allowed.
I've got 100+ sci fi 3D models all made by me and most are low poly.
All the models that you can download can be used freely in any project, either personnal or commercial. You can use them in their original form or edit them to better suit your style (mesh / texture / name / etc.).

Moderators note: The Graphics for Games link is to a paid site rather than a free one. I'm letting the link stand, but clickers be advised.
