I'm new to the gamedev and I would like to start off by asking the community a question. I'm currently in Highs school (UK) I'm doing Higher Mathematics and I'm in top classes for English and Science. I've progressed in PHP and MySQL, I'd say I've learn the fundementals of both. I would like ask the community what they think a good computer relatedcareer choice for me should be, my personality type is a "Mastermind" ( http://www.keirsey.com/handler.aspx?s=keirsey&f=fourtemps&tab=5&c=mastermind ) and I'm a Gemini (like it matters). I've always been intrested in computers since the age of 9 (First coputer, it was running Windows 98 :D ), I currently know the obvious hardware parts related to computers and most technical subjects. I'm , in some sense , experienced with Linux but nothing special. I'm really intrested in programming since I love seeing something that you have made turn into something amazing. I'm capable of dealing with stress but I do not like it when I have to meet a tight deadline, hence why I like working on my own personal projects rather than helping others :/ . I love learning new things and love a good challenge. I can work long hours and if I find a bug in something I have created I will stay up all night if i have to (even if its something small) to fix it, so i don't mind the working hours of the career. Oh and I'm kind of intrested in game programming but it is not that important. What I would like your personal opinions on is: What do you think a good IT related career choice would be suitable for me. What programming languages I should consider learning. I WUNT TO CRETE GAME LIEK CRYSIS HAW I DEW? Just kidding about the crysis part, I don't like Crysis. [Edited by - Elmario on October 31, 2009 7:55:05 PM]

Hi Mario,
You should get a Computer Science degree.
As for the 2nd part of your question, you should read the FAQ for the For Beginners forum.
Making some games of your own will be a good way to build a portfolio to get a job as a game programmer.
