My mom said she''ll get me a tablet for my birthday! (I love my mom ) Anyway, what kind/size should I get and where can I buy one from? I have to order it online, none of the stores in my area have one.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

I personally have an old cross ipen tablet and it works great.

You probably want to get at least a 12" tablet.. do not settle for the cheap 6"x8" ones.. that''s about the size of your mousepad at home.

goto www.pricewatch.com and look under digital tablets

?Have a nice day!?

Without a doubt I would go with the Wacom Intuos Tablet. It comes in 4" x 5", 6" x 8", 9" x 12", 12" x 12", and a whopping 12" x 18". It is truly a professional tablet, with precise and accurate pen tracking. Also, it is pressure sensitive, and depending on the software you are using, this can translate to different functionality. Additionally, it reads the angle of the pen relative to the tablet. Optional accessories include an airbrush and 3d mouse.

This is the tablet I have been drooling over for some time now. A bit pricey at $200 to $500, but in the end I believe it would be worth it. Unfortunately I can''t speak from experience, but my research says this is the one to get.

CompUSA does carry Wacom tablets. Perhaps there is one near you?

Agree on the Wacom choice.

I got the little one at CompUSA (it was all they had in stock). Good for touchups and tweaking images, but go for a larger one if you plan on hand drawing images from scratch. And if it''s someone else''s money.
get a wacom graphite, or a wacom intuos if money isnt a problem. Also, size is not that important as far as I''m concerned, but that depend mostly on how you draw. Most art students learn do draw on very big sheet of papers and are now used to draw with their whole arm/elbow. Those people do need a large (and expensive) tablet to feel confortable.

Personnaly I am used to draw with my wrist so 4x5 or 8x6 is enough for me. Just check how big are your drawings, but don''t forget that you can zoom in and out with a tablet.

Also keep in mind that large tablets are also harder to manipulate. My small one is very handy. I have enough place for it on my desk (many people with large 12" often complain they don''t have enough deskspace to use it) or I can put it on my laps like a sketchbook.
wacom intuos. ´nuff said
For the size, it really depends your style of drawing (your hand movements). Personally, I am a miniaturist. Gimme a stamp and I´ll have too much space left blank when I am done, so I decided to settle for an A5, and it is indeed quite big for my me.
And dont settle for just a Graphire; if it s a present, you might as well ask for the best stuff you could get

enjoy !

Ok, here''s what I decided to do - get a cheap tablet now, and if I really like it I will upgrade in a few years to a Wacom PL series, the ones where you draw on the lcd monitor. What I got for now is a generic 6x8". Thank''s for your opinions everyone!
