I have Visual Studio Express 2005 and 2008. Just wondering if there was anything better out there. Gotta be free though, no demos, shareware, adware, etc. Thanks! - Deathbliss

VS Express 2008. Until 2010 ships in April, most likely.

SharpDevelop is very feature complete, and very free. (it's feels lighter and more responsive too)

My vote here. 2010beta2 is fairly stable if you want to look at the new stuff.

There'll also be a public Visual Studio 2010 RC this month.

Visual C# Express 2008, the Visual Studio 2010 beta/RC, or if you're a student Visual Studio 2008 through Dreamspark.

Three choices: VS 2008 Express, SharpDevelop and MonoDevelop. The latter is cross-platform, meaning you can use the same environment to develop on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Since all projects use the same project format, just try all three and see which one you like best.

Moreover, I'd recommend against VS 2010 betas on a production system, because they are a pain to uninstall/upgrade and can wreak havoc on your system (speaking from experience). Just wait for the final in March.

[OpenTK: C# OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenAL 1.1. Now with Linux/KMS support!]

Final in march, eh? Does that mean Microsoft will be doing a round of product launch events at various locations? I hope so...
