My story continues:

Well, I did a lot more work than I thought I''d have to. I tried enabling CoolBits on my system, but just as when I tried previously, it didn''t work. Lots of searching on CoolBits, and finally I tried cross referencing with 12.41 (my driver version) and found out that 12.41 doesn''t support CoolBits (as they take it out from time to time). So, I tried the trick a website suggested of substituting some 12.40 dlls, but I decided just to install the 12.40 dlls straight out because I needed the D3D panel as well as the clock speed enhancement. So, I installed 12.40, resized my desktop, turned off vsync, ran the program (incidentally, my system won''t start Role Maker from the exe, I have to use the installer to install and then use the run program checkbox option to start it up) and boom! About from 74 - 80 fps at all resolutions. No change in fps by changing the resolution. Now, when I go into the corner where nothing''s moving and look out of the castle, I can get 190 fps at 640x480 and only about 160 at 1024x768. There''s something about the starting position that keeps me at 70 - 80 fps on all resolutions, though. I really have no experience with 3D stuff, so I''ve got no ideas.

Anyway, I think I''ve gone on too long now. Good luck with everything, and I''m glad I could be of whatever little help I''ve given you.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Monelithe,

I am sorry that you did all that work. You didn''t have to - I was telling you all the stuff mostly for your own information so you know a little more about how graphics work on your computer. The same information goes for almost all other games.

But I have learned from it to, so thanks anyway. :-)

As far your final question the 70/80fps limit I think this is because of yours system bus mostly making a bottle neck. But 70 or 80 fps is still pretty high I think. :-)

Don''t worry about the work. I enjoyed doing it. And, as you said, I''ve learned from it as well. Thank you kindly.

Dan
