How do you create MODs?

How do you create MODs for use in a game? I don't want to know how to play them in a game, but how do you actually create the music in MODs?

Find a copy of Impulse Tracker or Scream Tracker.

or Digitracker, Noisetracker..etc..etc. The Mod format is a bit dated these days (4-8 channel). I wouldn''t say to use Buzz (realtime machines) songs for use in a game, but perhaps .XM (32 channel).
