Publishing/Distribution?

I have just finished my first title, which myself and a few others feel is worthy of being published. I have decided I am going to go ahead and publish the game. This I have never done before, and need some help. Should I just setup a web page and use one of those companies that just takes orders for you, while doing my own advertising, etc? Or should I get a company that does the advertising for me, but charges more per commission? Or what other options do I have? Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I''d take every non exclusive opportunity I could find. Sell with everyone who doesn''t require you only sell with them and you may not get the same profit from each one but you''re game will be out there more which is more important anyway. That way you can also see what companies work best for you.

No matter where you sell it, you''ll need a web-site. People like to know what they''re buying before they do. It''s preferable to get a domain name so it looks a little more professional but it really doesn''t matter.

If you want a domain, Dotster and PowWeb or Icom.com will work fine.

I run Icarus Independent which doesn''t open it''s doors until September 1st. Click on "Got a Game to Sell?" and it will take you from there. There''s a 3 page FAQ describing how my company works.

KalvinB, could you recommend any non-exclusive publishing companies off the top of your head??

I''ve never worked with any companies myself.

Someone mentioned DigiBuy.com on an earlier thread and it looks like a good company.
