There is no OpenGL 1.2 implementation for Windows yet (assuming that that is what you use)... So you are outta luck.

u prolly already have 1.2 try glGetString( GL_VERSION )
further info on extensions can be found at www.opengl.org

To access the OpenGL 1.2 functionality, you have to use the extension header located at http://oss.sgi.com/projects/ogl-sample/ABI/glext.h, which defines OpenGL 1.2 constants, functions, and extensions.

You get access to OpenGL 1.2 functions using the same technique to get access to OpenGL extensions - by getting pointers to the functions.

As an example, the glTexImage3D() function:

glTexImage3D = (PFNGLTEXIMAGE3DPROC*) wglGetProcAddress("glTexImage3D");
