I''m only 14 so you can''t expect some one like me to have to wait a whole week for a book that was supposed to arrive 2-3 days after ordering. I ordered Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus off of the Barnes and Noble web site. It said "Usually arrives in 2-3 days." It''s been almost a week since I ordered it. So I''m a bit anxious. To alleviate my anxiety, I''ve deciided to ask a question to the people that got the book an internet bookseller: Where did you order it from and how long did it take to arrive? And don''t forget the shipping method used. Ronald Forbes Download Complete. "YESSSSSS! The DirectX 7 SDK is finally MINE!! After 3 days of waiting, I have finally successfully downloaded this huge file. Now, I'll just fire up Winzip and... Illegal Fault. CURSES, MICROSOFT, CURSES!" I ordered windows game programming for dummies of Barnes and Noble .com and it took like 8 days to arrive. The web site says it usually ships within 24 hours and I got the 2-3 day arrival. I waited and waited every day. I finally got it. My dad looked at the package and found that it had been shipped out of Barnes and Noble .com 3 days after I ordered it. My mom ordered a book from amazon.com 2 days after I ordered my book and her''s came in 2 days later. Barnes and Noble.com may be cheaper sometimes, but if you want speed go with amazon.com. Amazon.com ships priority mail, not UPS. and in my opinion, Priorty mail and amazon.com make a killer team. If you can, try to make it to the XGDC next year. André''s a great guy, and the conference is well worth it. Besides, I''m on the advisory board! ### #7sherman Members - Reputation: 151 Posted 05 January 2000 - 07:24 AM Just curious, is that really the picture of Andre'' on his www.xgames3d.com website (the one spotting a Blade outfit)? (Hypothetical question so no reply is really necessary). He is truly my role model =) Everybody who hasn''t seen how Andre'' looks like should check out his website at www.xgames3d.com Best regards, Sherman ### #11foofightr Members - Reputation: 130 Posted 07 January 2000 - 09:55 AM This is concerning UPS and not Andre.. I ordered something online from a company in California and was told they charged$30 for shipping. Since the item was $300, I could stomach it. It was shipped via UPS, and when it finally got here, I had to pay$84 for shipping. You can imagine my surprise!

Never, ever using UPS again in my life.

I can''t help but complain about their service in Malaysia. DHL has been sending my Microsoft Technet subscription to me for almost half a year. So what is the problem? Well, I am in college in the morning but they insist on delivering in the morning. This is not really the reason why I am irked by DHL. What is worse is that when I first phoned them to ask them to schedule further deliveries to me for night shipment, their staff told me that it was done. Unfortunately, DHL kept sending them to me in the morning every once a month. I proceeded to phone them again and this time, their staff told me that there was no such thing as a shipping schedule system at DHL - now, why would they have agreed to ship my future packages to me at night in the first place?

That was just the beginning. 2 months ago, DHL delivered my monthly Technet subscription to my house as usual but no one was in. So, they left me an undelivered shipment note. I phoned them about the package and they asked for my bill number but the problem was that the DHL delivery man forgot to write it down on the undelivered shipment note. So, the DHL guy on the other end of the phone asked me to hold on while he checked the system for my name. Guess what? He came back and told me that he had no record whatsoever in my name. He advised me to phone Microsoft to clarify the matter. I think that was totally uncalled for since they were the ones who left the undelivered shipment note at my house in the first place. To make matters worse, they do not send my monthly subscription anymore since then.

Well, I am not advising anybody to not use DHL service but I am personally dissatisfied with their quality here in Malaysia.

Best regards,
Sherman
