Hey
So, here is the situation. I currently can't continue my education(Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering) because of financial trouble. So i have one of two options, either go to Europe to continue studying Computer Engineering there because the universities there are really top notch and they are dirt cheap. And while studying, i can continue to self-teach myself Game Programming.
Which means that i need to take a year off to learn the language(hopefully less) and the next 4 years in there might be a bit hard because of the fact that i will have to relearn everything in the other language.
Or i can attend Full Sail Online University and get my degree online which will take about the same time(4 years).
So... Here is the million $ question, is the degree of a Computer Engineer with a good(not great because it will be hard to study two things at once) knowledge of DirectX and Game Programming better than
the one that just graduated with a professional Game Programming degree but with no experience in anything else computer related.
Please answer me ASAP because i need to apply quickly, the dead line is REALLY close.

A) What do you want to be? You say you're in computer engineering (that was my major), but I wouldn't really consider that a game development major, unless your school has a different definition of that degree than mine (mine was closer to an electrical engineer than it was to Comp. Sci.)
I think before you decide if you want to change schools or not, you need to decide or at least think hard about what it is you want to do with your life.
B) Isn't full sail really expensive? I don't understand how you have to drop out of a university and yet think you can afford to go to full sail. According to their website most degrees are around $15k/semester, which makes it about as expensive as top tier U.S. universities.
C) Where do you live? Are there state schools near where you live? Generally they can be pretty cheap, though it depends what country you live in.

If you have to drop out because you can't afford your current school, how are you going to pay for Full Sail?

A) i want to be a Game Programmer. From what i know, a degree in Computer Science OR Computer Engineering can land me a nice position in Game Programming. Also, in my school it was a mix between Elec., Sci. and some exclusive Computer Engineering stuff. But that is not the issue, if i should change to a Computer Sci. when i go to a new school because i ONLY completed two semesters at my original school, it will be the least of my worries.
B) it is, but their online degree is affordable($6k).
C) i live in the Middle East, so you can just forget the state schools or community colleges because they are BEYOND bad. i will have better chances at getting a good degree in mars.
My original school costs about $25-$30 k per semester, Full Sail Online costs about $9k per semester, and in Europe it will cost me about $3k per semester.
Full Sail Online and Europe are affordable, but $30k per semester is pushing it too far.
Europe is actually a pretty good option, but i do have to waste a whole year learning the language, and even after that, i won't be a master in it.
Good god 30k per semester... they must be catering exclusively to oil princes at that price 
I have to say I'm just a bit skeptical of online programs, just something about full sail leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I think it would almost always be preferrable to get a real degree if possible, but of course this is up to you to do your research.
The european option sounds interesting. Unless your current school is a major world powerhouse I can't imagine you're going to be making any kind of salary as a game programmer enough to pay off 200k worth of student loans (4-year program?) in any reasonable amount of time. If you can get a degree of roughly equal prestige and education for a fraction of that it seems like it could be a good idea.
If you're still deciding, it probably wouldn't hurt you to put out a few applications to places you're interested in, you can always decide once you've been accepted if you want to go there or not. If the deadline's coming up might just want to put in an application to where you're looking at just to buy some more time.

FAQs?? what FAQs?? I did contact Full Sail and ask around about much of everything if that is what you meant Mr. Sloper.

I'd go for the computer science/engineering. Many will still give you the option of taking game related subjects. Build up a strong game portfolio in your own time.

oh, THOSE FAQs... yeah i read a lot of them before. I just wanted to ask the question any ways. It seems that i might go to Europe after all.
