Hey everyone. I want to start compiling a list of all the computer games that can be modded in some way. By this I mean hacking into the game files to change stuff, and using a level editor or map editor to create new levels, maps or campaigns. I''ll start it off: Half-Life StarCraft Deus Ex Unreal Tournament Homeworld Star Wars: Battlegrounds Age of Empires Rainbow Six series Flight Simulator Combat Flight Simulator Add on and I''ll post the completed list (well completed at that time) in the FAQ and update that for future reference. ============================== "Need more eeenput..." - #5, "Short Circuit" ==============================

Dude, there are TONS of games.. the list would be WAY to long. Just think of how many games have .cfg/.ini files.. :o). That is a "way" of hacking into game files and changing stuff... also, anything that uses images.... you can change... etc. It''s bit to broad.

Even though the original poster said "hacked", I don''t think he really meant that word. Otherwise, everything could be modded (once it''s hacked). What I think he meant was "What games do you know that were built specifically with the capability of player-made mods?" As in they also ship with the game a level editor, or they use an open scripting language that allows mod developers to make their own scripts and stuff. In that way, not every game can be modded (without decompiling/hacking remember).

Or atleast that''s what I gathered.

Has anyone said Warcraft 1 & 2? It''s old, but it was fun.
Also, on Tony Hawk 3, I believe you can make your own levels.
Just about every FPS nowadays includes directions to use your own model packs and levels.

The Sims. Return to Castle Wolfenstein???
I wasn''t aware the Rainbow Six series was moddable.

Also, if you meant literally hacked, then basically any game can be modified.

How ''bout a more dynamic list, like the book section, so there could be descriptions and user-written reviews of the engines?
