I wasn't sure if there was a thread about this or not so I apologize in advance.

Valve has released their game Portal for Free until September 20, 2011. So if you already don't have it then go grab it from Steam!

Here is a link to it: http://store.steampowered.com/app/400/

I was discussing Portal once with a coworker. He said "I didn't finish it but I got almost all the way to the end; you know, when she tries to drop you in the fire pit".
"It's like naming him Asskicker Monstertrucktits O'Ninja" -Khaiy

Wait, is this "Free to Play" as in it is free for a few days to play it, or is it "Free", as in, grab it now and its yours?

It's the full game with no expiration. So as long as you add it to your steam account before then you will have it for good.

Log into your steam account and click the "Install Game" button and it will add it to your library.

If you're awesome, you can beat it in an hour.
They had something like this before Portal 2 came out, which is how I got to play the original. Their marketing must have worked though, as my roommate ended up buying Portal 2... which I'd say was just as awesome as the first, but with a ton more gameplay.

I have a friend who did that but actually dropped into the fire-pit and turned it off. I think its more common with console gamers who are likely playing while distracted by house mates, girlfriend or booze and really don't pay attention to most of the awesomeness they are not experiencing.
