The 10th anniversary of the Xbox motivated me to write a gamasutra blog on designing the boot sound for the original Xbox-- had some interesting challenges.

Really Interesting Post,

I especially enjoyed the brief they gave you for the sound " immense power striving to break free" That sounds like a fun sound to try and create!

That's totally awesome.

The demoscene comes to mind here. It's all about doing amazing things with tiny amounts of resources. I think a lot of the most avid demo-programmers from back in the day and today are very useful to the games-industry, especially when it comes to specific cases like these.
