Not sure if this topic belongs here, but it would be a huge help if a user could be able to leave this site in the midst of writing an advert, msg or other text and have it auto saved. I'm not sure if this is a feature that can be achieved with this site but it would be rad. I just lost a big msg because of Firefox and I'm curious if an auto save or draft system could be added to keep that from happening. Thanks all.

For suggestions and ideas, there is http://www.gamedev.net/forum/4-gdnet-comments-suggestions-and-ideas/. A mod could be asked to move the thread.

But I don't think it'll go high on the list of things to do. Until someone comes up with a general system for keeping edit box contents alive, you just go find your favorite work-around on the net, and implement that. We've had at least one thread on this problem.

For most people it is this: when writing longer text-based posts on any forum, work in a local text editor, then paste into web form.
It is I, the spectaculous Don Karnage! My bloodthirsty horde is on an intercept course with you. We will be shooting you and looting you in precisely... Ten minutes. Felicitations!

I appreciate the feedback, I guess it makes sense that the idea isn't high on the list, but for a website that seems to be focused on classifieds and text based interaction between members I'm surprised with all the useful tools in place this one is not already there. I'll be sure to copy paste all my work from now on to be safer. Thanks for the re-direct and work around suggestion Don.

This has been around for a few months now but I guess isn't that obvious. After you start typing into the text box look down into the lower-left corner and you will see some text appear that says "Last Saved - " followed by a time stamp. It won't cover all situations but if the page reloads for whatever reason (like I just pressed F5) when you click on the text box you'll see "View Auto Saved Content" with a time stamp. Click on that and it will pop up the auto-saved text in a box and you can choose to restore it to the text editor.

But yea, to be totally safe best to edit externally and then copy/paste and clean up in the editor here as Don Carnage suggests

That's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for! Gaiiden you're a genius, thank you so much! I will be more prudent in the future in generla but just in case I a rambling shmuck (like now!) next time and I loose my rantings you've saved everyone from having to not hear it! Perfect! Now to go post another idea for an MMOFPSRPG!D
