Ehhh - no. glDrawArrays is perfectly 100% legal to use with a VBO.

Sorry, my mistake. I always assumed you had to use glDrawElements or glDrawRangeElements with VBO's. I guess the only difference is that drawelements accepts a pointer to indices, where drawarrays doesn't.
