Anyway we can upvote sub-news items?

  1. So I was reading the x64 ABI article (it was good by the way) and wanted to upvote it. But I didn't want to upvote the main article because that would be completely misleading.
  2. Would there be a way to upvote a sub-news item and when it passed a certain threshold, it would become a main news-item?

I understand what you are going for here and I'm not sure of a best way to do this. Right now we don't retain anything other than the article title and article link for related articles.. A while back when I wrote the "related" algorithm I tried to do my best to come up with a solution that at the very least weeded out the exact same story posted across multiple sites. But the side effect is that it also can generate false positives where there are many similarities in stories that represent different things entirely.

Something like this would require quite a bit of rewriting of the system so I'm not sure if it's something we'd get to any time soon. Next up for the site is the release of our newly revamped article system (and a contest to go along with it) and forum Q&A. I'm just a little behind since my wife was due to give birth on May 28th.. 5 days ago.. this baby will be coming any day now. Taking care of everything during this time has left me with less free time than I'd hope for.

Grats in advance...and if you think you have no time now....just wait :D

This is my second.. I'm just hoping he quickly gets to a point where he's sleeping at night. Most of my work is done in that 9PM-12AM timeslot each day.
I wish you good luck on your quest to train your child swiftly. Shutting up now as obviously way out of the thread's context.
Back on offtopic: Congrats on the kid!

Back on ontopic: Well hopefully someday that feature will come. :)
