I have wanted to design video games for a while now so I finally bought this book called"Programming Video Games for the Evil Genius" by Ian Cinnamon. I am becoming less and less satisfied with it. Has anyone read this book, or know someone who has? If so, what did you or the person you know think of it? Have you read any other books on video game programming? What are they called? Did you think they were helpful?

I know of other books with a similar theme (http://inventwithpython.com/), and I think they're generally useful, but only for people who have realistic expectations.
If you're looking to find a book that will turn you into a professional developer, who can create AAA titles, you're wasting your time.

The C Programming Language, Game Engine Architecture, and Game Coding Complete. Brilliant books.
If you wanted to get into DirectX, learn COM first everything makes a lot more sense then. I'd really recommend Inside COM (thought it was published in, like, 1995)..
