I am trying to create fire, explosion as well as rain and snow.

I am not sure about the best way to create particle engine to make it realistic.

For the fire, should I create a single particle in 3Ds Max and apply a texture then use it in the Particle Engine to duplicate it many times and apply alpha blending in DirectX or do everything in DirectX/C++ without using 3Ds Max?

Please try not to double post. I've replied to your particle engine thread...
