I do hope this is the right section.

I've been developing a windows application using VB.net and it needs to be able to playback sound files of various formats, although mostly MP3's being used with the odd wav popping up. wma support would be a nice bonus but not necessarily needed. I tried using the default soundplayer class available on the .net framework already and found that it can only play wma files. The windows media player ActiveX control didn't really make any sense either and I only needed its audio playback abilities so it was horrifically complicated overkill.

So does anyone know of any easy to use audio playback libraries with mp3 support at least, preferably more. Some sort of way of implementing pause/resume functionality would also be good, even if its just retrieving the progress through the current track and programmatically skipping the track to that point (if the library supports it).

Thankyou, and I apologise if this is in the wrong section
