# Camera position for certain visible plane size

I want to set up my camera so that the far plane, when seen on screen, is x units high.

How can I calculate how far from this plane my camera must be so that I can only see a rectangle with this height?

You're always looking at the center of the far plane. Assuming a 45 degree yFov, the far plane is 2 * Far units high. You'll have to do some more trig (ie, SOHCAHTOA) if your yFov is different.

No I'm wrong! With a yFov of 45, the quad is 2 * (tan(22.5 degrees) * far dist) units tall.
