hi guys i was wondering how i would get started on programing a simple 2d game of pong or something like that and what software would i need i have a basic idea of c++ which should be enough for this project.

any help will be appriciated.

If you are using C++, you need some kind of graphics API to do actual drawing. SFML is a good choice for that.
Here is a tutorial on making "Connect Four" in SFML: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
Here's another creating Pong in SFML.

I just found those on Google, so I don't know how good they are.
