I'am currently in 2nd year college and i need advice and/or help about game programming.
The problem is that we're complete novice to the whole game development community and we kinda need some heads up of what we need to know to be able to start in game development. Our thesis project is also about game development so we're in a big mess. Any help or guide will be greatly appriciated.
Thank you so much guys..peace ^^v

actually we already know what kind of game we want to do.Something like RPG. Like diablo.Quests.
And we decided to use unity 3d for the graphics and animation. One of our problems are what programming language to
use. Some adviced me C, C++ or C#. I researched on the issue and i found out that C# is commonly used.
Many others use Visual Studio. I need help on that too. Originally, i am a software developer so this whole game development
pretty much came as a shock so i needed to seek for advice and guides from professional which i bet alot of you guys are.
Thanks for the help..

Unity can only use C#, a modified form of javascript or Boo, a quick google search would have told you that. Unityscript (the modified javascript) and C# are whats usually used. Almost all tutorials will be in one or the other, some of the official tutorials are in both. Go on the unity website and they have huge amounts of tutorials in PDF format also including a huge amount of sample code.
i know that this feels annoying to ask too novice questions but thank you so much for the help...
at least we made progress.
Peace ^^v

Just an FYI, but it's not annoying in the least to ask a novice question, that is *EXACTLY* what this forum is for.
The annoyance comes from re-asking a question that has been answered many times, within the same forum, *on the same page*! This is literally a daily experience here and is the source of irritation. You will generally find the forum is still reasonably accommodating.
And then the second question being one thats answered on the unity website when you click the about button....
Some common sense is needed before asking questions, next time take a quick google search and use the forums search feature. Once both have been done or the only relevant threads are dead then it is perfectly acceptable to ask noob questions.
