Plazma Being - Beta

Hey there.

My name is Felix Wunderlich. For the past year I have been developing my first game, Plazma Being. It is a 2d puzzle/platformer for Windows and I am using LÖVE to develop it. Game summary:

Take control of Zeb in this puzzle/platformer. He is a small energy based life form from space, known as a Plazma Being. While journeying through space to his home, he got kidnapped by aliens. They took him back to their planet and threw him into captivity. During this time a major event shook the planet and wreaked havoc upon the alien civilisation, but giving Zeb a chance to escape.

The object of the game is to help Zeb make his way back to the ship which brought him to the planet, and use it to escape. Zeb must traverse between levels using the alien's teleportation system, and use his various energy powers to proceed through each level. But it's not as easy as it sounds. The teleporters have lost some of their power, so he must also collect energy to recharge them at the end of each level.

The game will feature 10 puzzle/platforming filled levels spread out between 3 different environments. Each time Zeb reaches a new environment, he will discover new energy powers. Each of these will give him new abilities to use for puzzle solving, and to help him on his way.

You can check out my indieDB page or the game page on my website for more information.

You know, that's very very cool! Impressive effort! I think the controls need a bit work(maybe have the creature move a bit faster? It seems kinda slow), but overall very good. Keep it up!

Hey man, thanks for the feedback smile.png . I'll make a note of your points about the controls and see what other people think. Thanks again!!
Greetings!

It's an excellent concept, but like mikeman said; the controls need work. They feel stiff and slow. The slow part is easy to fix; I suggest making it move as fast as it does when you're holding shift, but then without holding shift wink.png As for making them smoother, well...trial and error I suppose. You'll find a way.

Other than that it just needs more levels, but as time progresses I'm sure it'll get more. Have you thought about creating an easy to use level editor? That's the type of option that can make games like this flourish and build up a dedicated community.

Best wishes,

Dennis

Hey Dennis, thanks for the feedback! Ok so maybe I'll have to bump improving the controls further up my to-do list wink.png. That's two people in a row pointing it out. The controls are meant to be momentum based, so there will probably always be a small bit of lag, but I'll look into making them feel more responsive, and I might make the "move faster" button a toggle instead of making the player hold it down. There are some bits further on in the game where it's handy to have the speed limited. As for more levels, they're already done biggrin.png. This is just the demo version. The full version will have 10 levels (aprox 4-5 hours gameplay). I almost have the final beta version ready and I'm hoping to get it onto Desura next week for testing (that is, I'll contact Desura next week and we'll go from there smile.png). I'm not going to add a level editor to this game. But I have on mind for my next project alright. Thanks again!!
