Is there any way to fix this without having to manually fix each bone name?
I use assimp to import my models into my engine, and all works fine. So i started playing around with skeletal meshes using 3DS Max and the Biped controller. What i found out is that Assimp has issues with bones that have spaces (" ") in them which is understandable. However, the default naming convention of 3DS Max Biped is "Bip01 <BoneName>".
