I want to slide it down a bit to 50% 60% 70% perhaps, what is the math behind?

To slide one of an edge's vertices along the edge: edge.vertex1.position += (edge.vertex2.position - edge.vertex1.position) * 0.5;

Thanks. BTW, are there any good book recommendation for mesh manipulations, such as degenerate face elimination?

Just all about meshes/patches/nurbs... etc

I only know the book 'Real-time Collision Detection' has a chapter on geometric robustness, but most of what can be found in books is likely to be available in online papers as well.
