I'm trying to write my own echo, reverb, obstruction, occlusion and spatialization effects for audio as a learning experience, are there any decent resources for a beginner?

I have very little experience in this, but my approach would be to search for an audio-library that let's you put customized filters and other effects on the audio-streams. OpenAL-EFX seems to be capable of applying effects and filters on the audio-streams.
