"16-bit era pixel art" should be the google terms that will get you started. I don't think there's a more specific style than "Pixel Art" that will help you out much.

It's just pixel art. The art direction (possibly combined with limitations of the platform), not the method or the style, would dictate that everything have a rounded feel.
If you want to communicate to someone what you mean it would really be "LoZ: A link to to past-esque".

Your question goes more towards art direction, as has been pointed out.
The kind of "view" they used would most-typically be called a 3/4ths overhead perspective, but its worth pointing out that they also do it in a slightly different way than most games, which is that the backside of some structures is visible--but is "shorter" than the frontside of the same structures. For example, in the screenshots that Prinz Eugn posted, you'll notice that the backside riverbank near link is visible, and that its a single tile high, and so are the side-facing riverbanks--but viewed from the frontside, the riverbank of the same structure is about twice as high. Its a kind of faux-perspective that really only the Zelda series does, its also functional as it facilitates the ability for link to jump down to lower levels and for the view to remain unobscured.

I'd personally classify it as a chibi or SD art style, but that's not any kind of official classification.
Phone game idea available free to someone who will develop it (Alphadoku game - the only existing phone game of this type is both for windows phone only and awful. PM for details.)
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

I'd personally classify it as a chibi or SD art style, but that's not any kind of official classification.Somewhere in between those 2 extremes is an art style called "First Party Nintendo Game" style.
Look in old instruction books, and official strategy guides for more of it. If you can find out who was responsible for the designs, you can see if they have any websites or art books available. EDIT: Turns out there is an art book/encyclopedia coming out on the 29th of January.
