Pixel art is a kind of graphical art, so I guess that could look for all the principles that applies to minimalist art, and take into account the specificities of pixel art.

Simple pixel arts, like old style games.

Concept is the same, just the level of detail in which you put into it is less. Instead of having a 8 or 16 color pallet use a 3 or 6. Still use the same concepts as normal pixel art but focus more on shadow and highlights.
