Winnt 4.0 and DirectX

From what I understand, Winnt only supports up to DX3, is this correct ???
Is there any way that I could run DX apps using DX 6 & 7 ???

with NT4, i dont believe so. i may be mistaken, but there MIGHT be a SP that allows the use of DX5, though(but dont quote me on it)
NT 4.0 only supports up to DirectX 3. I also could be wrong, but I''ve never heard off a sp that offers additional support. So basically you are left with 95/98/2000 as you''re choices.

There''s an unsupported NT hack that allows use of up to DX 5.0. Last I heard it couldn''t work on DX 6 or 7, and it would break if you applied the latest service packs. Officially (and realistically) DX 3.0 is the tops on NT 4.0.
Another point to make is that ALL available DX versions for NT4 (including the hack) are NON hardware accelerated. ie everything is done through the HEL not the HAL.
