Hey guys

I am new to developing games and doing art for them but I am somewhat experienced with digital art and need a program that is good, free, and works well for video game creations. I was using paintertoolsai which I thought was awesome but was just a trial version and I cant afford a full version at this time. I have tried gimp but I don't like it and I don't feel like it works well with tablets.

Plz help and thanks a ton :)

Gimp for image editing is free and open source, and Blender for modeling/animations is free and open source.

Gimp is the most popular free image editor, if you don't like it, I doubt you'll find anything as powerful for free. You can look into paint.net.

Ps look into Gimps "Single window mode".

Another item I have used is InkScape...

However, I would agree that Gimp is amazing... but haven't used it on a tablet. I feel that a good dual monitor setup is the way to go for most development, including my artwork.

The thing about GIMP is that it's far more of an image editing program than it is a program for creating digital art. Sadly, I don't know of any great, free programs for creating digital art. Sometimes you just have to scrape some money together to buy something you need. SAI costs less than $60 anyway.
