My score is 31 - and I am already in the process of getting treatment :)

I write software professionally all day as well as a hobby and also through my own company on the side so I program between 60-90 hours a week.

Remember to mark someones post as helpful if you found it so.

score: 6, self employed, been procrastinating a fair bit lately instead of working, got enough cash anyway.

Not on topic but:

I recall reading that weight loss and insomina questions give bonus points to medications which cause weight gain and sleepiness (similar assessment scales get used in one or the other part of drug trial), and are responsible for a sizable fraction of the above-placebo response of anti-depressants.

I scored 3 and I am programming more or less 84+ hours a week, yes I am a code junkie and I love it. I would increase my time but I have a cat that demands attention and I also do exercise and all my own cooking / cleaning.

If you asked this survey before 2010 I probably would have scored really high. Like others have mentioned it is flawed, I don't like the way it is worded, others have already covered why. Also there is a difference between anxiety and depression, some of the things you have mentioned fall under one only.

I scored 3 on "I have lost interest in other people", sadly the internet has put me off people, I can manage trolls (I was one for 10 years), I can manage spammers and I can manage egotistical people but one thing I cant manage is the enormous amount of negativity that is getting worse and worse daily. As a result ALL media related shit has been blocked, I now live a life where I don't hear about any news at all and more importantly I never hear about which triangle shaped eyeball is trying to take over the world or which government people think are killing its own citizens or which race is the source of all problems or any of the other crap you hear over and over. If you want to know what depressed me in the past, it was listening to 'those' types of people and reading the negative trash in the media that made it look like everything and everyone was bad; I also don't watch TV or movies either but that is simply because I never have time.

Score: 30

Hours spent programming / week: ~ 20

I usually enjoy programming, especially my own projects. Often maybe too much so that I have trouble getting to bed.

Most of my activities revolve around computers and I think that has a negative influence on my well-being. But programming in particular seems not to be related.
