Oh, I didn't know Qt was supposed to be pronounced "cute" I always pronounced it as "cutie" with emphasis on the "t" though

That's what I had thought, as well.

What about SQL?

Who says Sequel? (I don't, I say SQL) but this seems to be something I hear people saying different often, not sure what the correct way is either

If they wanted us to pronounce it jif, they just had to call it "jif" imo

for PNG i pronouce the letters, and for bitmap, i use both terms.

i guess it's just a matter of preference.

GIF stands for Graphical Image Format...so if they spelled it 'jif' then it'd have to be Jraphical Image Format...

I think 'jif' sounds better than 'gif', but it seems a lot of people prefer it like 'gif'.  I never actually talk to anyone and have no social life, so I guess it doesn't really matter for me...ph34r.png

Honestly, since we all know what it means, I think we should just let each other pronounce it either way, since it's barely different and completely ineffectual.

On a side note, I never pronounced it 'ping' and always just say Pee En Gee.

Funny idea, would not have occurred to me... sequel to what, though...

Also, as Cervantes already noted 400 years ago, never has a sequel been on par with the original. Which, if you pronounced it "sequel" would make SQL inferior by definition. tongue.png

I pronounce acronyms like acronyms.  PNG is Pee En Gee.  BMP is Bee Em Pee, unless I actually mean to say bitmaps, as in a map/field of bits, not the file format.

I used to pronounce JPG as Jay Pee Gee, but a lot of people would look at me all confused, so now I pronounce it "Jay Peg".

SQL = Es Queue El.

Unless it's a contrived acronym, I wouldn't pronounce any acronyms like a word.
