Its not a myth of the likes of Bigfoot, Nessy, or Buttered Toast-Cat Perpetual Motion! An actual SDL 2.0 release is coming soon! The Release Candidate is available out of libsdl.org

Any thoughts on how it compares to SFML 2.0?

Or how it compares to buttered-toast cat perpetual motion, for that matter...

Fantastic! Glad they are pushing forward on it.

At the basic level, they're pretty comparable. However, SDL has a few more features than SFML (by design; Laurent keeps SFML as minimal as possible), and SDL supports mobile (while SFML currently does not, but Laurent is working on an iOS port and I am working with Jonathan/Sonkun on an Android port). In terms of out-of-the-box speeds, they're about even now.

But this is very exciting. I'm glad they finally got an RC out! Thanks for posting this here; it could've been awhile before I found out.
