Right now I'm a java programmer but I find that decent game APIs are pretty scarce. I really liked Slick2d, but that's gone under. I've dabbled in LibGdx, but I'm not sure how much of a fan I am.
I'd consider learning a new language if I could have access to higher quality APIs, my question is: What are the best game APIs of the top languages and what are their pros/cons?
I'm aware that C# has XNA, which I've read is dying? It also has Monogame, which I know very little about.
