Are Agencies as Bad as People Say?

I've experienced almost the reverse of what is being mentioned here, although maybe this is a US vs UK thing (I'm in the UK).

My first job was obtained via an agency and when I got made redundant from that I went back to the same agency and they managed to line up 9 or so interviews within a couple of days (Sony, MS, Codemasters, CCP and Frontier) and that was with 2.5 years of experience in the industry behind me. (For my most recent job I went direct but that was due to knowing someone in the company).

So, I would say, personally, I've had a very positive experience with an agency (Amiqus in both cases for the record) and would recommend them to someone trying to get into the industry in the UK.

Amiqus was the company with whom I have had the most success with. Maybe they have a different attitude for their candidates than other agencies.

(Not "mobile" as in I move around a lot, but as in phones, mobile phone developer)

(Although I am mobile. no, not as in a babies mobile, I move from place to place)

(Not "place" as in fish, but location.)
