Humble Bundle is running a Game Development bundle for the next couple of weeks. It looks like it comes with some game development utilities, content creation utilities, and some content you can plug into your game like sprites, music, and terrain. It might be worth your time to check out.

Just want to say that Spriter Pro alone is worth the $12 and Sprite Lamp Hobbyist seems pretty good too (bought it yesterday, but I haven't tried it.)
