If you mean Escrow.com they have very strickt limitations for credit cards and paypal, which makes it impossible to use for big crowdfunding.

The best way to protect yourself in any money situation is speak to a lawyer before you commit to anything.

This is the best advice i can give, and the only advice anyone really should give, unless they are a lawyer themselves. If they are, i'm sure they'd charge for their time rather than offering free advice on the internet
