weld constraint

Hi guys,

I have not been able to find much on this topic so I thought I would see if anyone knows the answer.

Given four points, connected by two rods (as in the physical constraint rod, that maintains the distant constraint) we would have the following

Rod r1(r1_start,r1_end)

Rod r2(r2_start,r2_end)

Now, let's say I wish to form a weld constraint, between r1_end, and r2_start, the following should happen.

The welding angle originally formed, should be maintained under all forces and all collisions.

With that said, does anyone know of a good source, hopefully mathematical backed by some code to help me get to the bottom of this problem?

Thanks,

Mike

Is this 2D or 3D? In 3D things become a bit more difficult since the angular constraints are more involved. If you need this in 2D I recommend at the Box2D weld joint.

Hi Dirk,

It's in 2D. Thanks for the assistance, I will look at Box2D's example and see if I can make some sense of it.

Mike
